Year 4's tour around Bristol

Last week, Year 4 were very lucky to go on an open top bus tour around Bristol to learn about its history. Thankfully the weather was also on our side. The bus company came and picked us up from school and the tour lasted approximately 2 and a half hours with a half an hour stop in Clifton where we walked across the Suspension Bridge. Lots of the children were amazed by the views as well as a few of us, including myself, who felt a little nervous due to the height. Take a look out our tour below:

Writing Week

What a glorious day for our writing week, whole school balloon release. Each child wrote a message on their balloon an we hope who ever finds them will contact the school to let us know how far it has travelled. Take a look at our special morning below.

Gardening club

Some of Year 4 have been lucky enough to be taking part in gardening club.
After only a few weeks they already had a snack to take home.

Science experiment

In Year 4 we are currently learning about staying healthy within our ScĂ®ence topic. After many discussions over lunchtimes about the content of children's lunch boxes, the children decided they would like find out more about sugar its affects on the body. I kindly donated my childhood teeth to allow the class to experiment the affects sugar has on teeth. Take a look at what we found out below.

Checking the teeth after 3 days.

One week later!!!

The innocent smoothie had a thick layer of mould on top.

The final results after 1 week.

Wookey Hole

Year 4 had a brilliant day today despite the rain. We began the day walking through the caves where we seen bats, stalactites and stalagmites. We then went to explore the paper and diving museum followed by a walk around the paper mill where we watched the process of making paper and drying it which has been happening in Wookey Hole for many years. In the afternoon we explored the dinosaur valley and then watched a short film in the 4D cinema ride. Take a look at a few pictures from our day below.

Recycling Project

As previously posted, Year 4 have been working with a local artist, Felix, to create some recycling stickers that will go around the local area to remind and promote people to recycle and look after the environment. The children were learning about the importance of a simple but clear message as well as different ways to create an engaging image. Together their ideas have created three stickers that are going to be stuck on bins in recycling areas in and around Bristol. Today we went on local walk and began to display some. Both the children and staff at Cabot are very impressed.  Take a look at final product below.
