Year 4's WOW DAY

We had the most amazing time learning about the Stone Age and fossils on Monday. We took part in some maths challenges looking at Stone Age numerals and had a go at making our own shelters outdoors. We also used charcoal, pastels and chalk to create our very own cave art pictures and in the afternoon we published our artwork onto clay tiles. Take a look at some of the images form our favourite parts of the day.

Tree planting

Last week we were involved in the one tree for every child in Bristol project. We went and planted numourous trees that will in many years to come turn into a wonderful first for wildlife to set up a new home. Take a look at us planting below.

Year 4 celebration afternoon

Thank you to all the parents that were able to come along to our celebration of work afternoon. The children thouroughly enjoyed sharing their work with you all as well as showing off their Spanish language. This will happen at the end of every topic so we hope to see you again very soon. Take a look at us preparing below as well as talking to the parents during the event.

The Iron Man

During our Literacy lessons we have been learning 'The Iron Man' text. To inspire our writing during our invention week, we made our own junk model characters to feature in our writing. A big thank you to all those parents that helped us by collecting recycling to bring in. Take a look at us working in partnership to create our models as well as some final designs.

Some children even went on to write there own chapter books. These are going to be shared with other classes for story times as well as being available to read in our class book corner for our peers to read.

Recycling workshop

Year 4 have recently been working with a local artist to create some recycling stickers that will go around the local area to remind and promote people to recycle and look after the environment. We have also been learning about the importance of a simple but clear message as well as different ways to create an engaging image. Together our ideas will create a collage of recycling art to be displayed locally. Take a look at some us hard at work below.

Nature Workshop

On the last day of term, we had a visitor from the Avon Wildlife Trust to talk to us about her role and the local wildlife. We got to go outside and explore the school grounds, where we found many mini beasts including a shieldback.

Take a look at us searching for bugs below.

Black History Week

During this special week, Year 4 focused on Carmen Beckford one of the seven saints of St Paul's. We also focused on a local artist, Michele Curtis who had sketched Carmen.

Looking at Michele's work, we all decided to have a go at using her artwork to sketch Carmen ourselves.

Take a look at us focusing in our Art lesson below.
